Every year your representatives from Pennsylvania join colleagues from all parts of the United States (including Territories) to help shape national policy and provide direct input to the College’s activities. Yearly activities include updating the ACR Standards criteria. There are also yearly national updates regarding economic policies and updates on the ACR’s advocacy for radiology payment at Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Relative Value Update Committee (RUC) of the American Medical Association.

  1. Councilors acting for our state

Similar to an elected office, each state appoints ‘Councilors’ to the College. These Councilors speak on behalf of all Radiologists in their state. The number of Councilors who can attend ids based upon the number of members in each state. Pennsylvania currently boasts 16 Councilors, one of the largest contingents in the country. Your dues help support this volunteer activity.

  2. Committee members representing our state

In addition to the work of Councilors many of our members and staff represent Pennsylvania on national level on various Committees and in positions of leadership

  3. Officers and leaders at the ACR

Members of the PRS have regularly had strong representation at the highest levels of the College, with current members on the Board of Directors and Council Steering Committee

  4. Lobby congress

Members have the opportunity to visit Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. to meet with elected officials and staff to advocate for the profession. Working with the American College of Radiology, this program is one of the strongest in Washington.
